Flex CPI Initial Class is a new CPI class that CASE is offering. Flex Online Class starts with participants completing the first portion of the class online. This introduces participants to the basic concepts of Nonviolent Crisis Intervention. The online portion typically takes 2-3 hours. The online portion is followed by a classroom experience. This will take place on January 17. The follow up in-person session explores the content of CPI and NVCI a little bit further. The classroom portion should last about 3-4 hours.
CPI has enhanced content in the their nonviolent crisis intervention classes. CPI has added additional content in the areas of verbal de-escalation and physical intervention options, as well as, added and changed key vocabulary. This includes, but is not limited to the RESPONSE continuum (supports for de-escalation), a decision-making matrix (risk analysis), the OPT out sequence (decreasing duration of most restrictive methods), and enhanced options for physical interventions (low, medium, and high options with new physical interventions).
