Understanding the unique abilities of students allows the staff to better understand the student and their individual needs in the classroom. Reviewing their 504 Plan or IEP to gather information to use in the classroom to ensure academic success is imperative for the classroom teacher. Whether the student has a visible or invisible disability, is at grade level, or needs accommodations to access materials the knowledge of their abilities and challenges is an area that will be discussed in this workshop. Examining a variety of case studies to assist teachers to better understand a student’s unique needs and to have a meaningful participation in the classroom will be explored.
