Extended School Year

ESY sessions run Monday through Thursday.

CASE provides Extended School Year (ESY) to students in its six elementary school districts. All students who are eligible for this service are invited to attend at Heritage Lakes Elementary School in Carol Stream. Academic, functional, transition and social-emotional goals addressed during ESY are selected by the student’s IEP team. Students are grouped together for instruction based on age and identified needs and goals selected for maintenance and support. Related services including speech, social work, occupational therapy, physical therapy, transportation, and nursing care are offered as part of ESY services.

For K-8, ESY will offer full day sessions (8:30-11:30) and accommodate as many students as can safely attend. Pre-K student placement in early (8:30-10:30) or late morning (10:45-12:45) sessions will be determined based on student need and classroom configuration. Parents will be notified by mid-May as to which session their child will be assigned.

Student applications for ESY are provided to families through classroom teachers and/or students’ case managers. Parents will receive an email with a link to register their children online. Parents/guardians needing additional information can contact their child’s case manager. Individuals who are interested in working in the CASE ESY program can locate additional information on the “Work With Us” section of the CASE website after February 1st.
